virtual therapy for Charlotte, NC
Charlotte has more therapists than any city in North Carolina — and somehow the search still ends with a waitlist, a directory tab you gave up on, or someone who doesn't quite do the thing you need. Virtual therapy for Charlotte, NC means the right specialist doesn't have to be inside the 485 loop. You get to pick from the whole state.
I'm Lindsey Smith, a licensed therapist based in Asheville offering virtual sessions to clients throughout North Carolina, including Charlotte, Matthews, Huntersville, Concord, and the surrounding area. I'm currently accepting new clients.
what I specialize in
My work is trauma-informed and nervous system-based — not just talking through problems, but working with the patterns below conscious thought. The things you understand but can't seem to change. That's where EMDR and somatic approaches come in. I work with anxiety, OCD, trauma, burnout, and the ways they overlap.
anxiety & OCD
Chronic worry, intrusive thoughts, and the loops that don't respond to logic. ERP for OCD — evidence-based and done at your pace.
trauma & EMDR
Complex trauma, PTSD, and the nervous system patterns that form when hard things happen. EMDR is one of the most effective evidence-based trauma treatments available.
burnout & high-functioning stress
The kind that hides behind a demanding job and a full calendar — running on empty while everything still looks fine from the outside.
ADHD & neurodivergence
Affirming care for adults with ADHD, autism, or who suspect they might be neurodivergent and haven't had language for why the world has felt harder.
how virtual therapy works
Sessions are HIPAA-compliant video — all you need is a private space and an internet connection. No crosstown drive at 5pm, no waiting room. Most people find it easier to show up consistently, which matters more than people expect.
Sessions are 50 minutes, with 80-minute extended sessions available for EMDR and deeper trauma processing. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield NC, Aetna, MedCost, and the NC State Health Plan. Self-pay starts at $150.
who I work with
Teens (16+), young adults, and adults. LGBTQ+ affirming. Experience with helping professions, creative people, and folks who've tried therapy before and found it didn't quite fit.
the right therapist doesn't have to be in your zip code
The first step is a free 15-minute consultation — no pressure, just a chance to see if it feels right.
